your cossie

since people slate them for being unreliable. How reliable has yours been and what problems you have had with it. When i first bought mine i got it from a garage in sheffield. It drove home ok. The second day i took it to work it cut out and wouldnt run again. I did a few things to it and changed phase sensor dizzy cap leads n plugs. I was getting to the point with the car that i was starting to get scared to go out in it. Cut a long story short. It would cut out n wouldnt run unless the car was left for about 10mins then it would be ok. I found the fuel filter to be at fault.

My Saph was and still is a night mare tbh, i can hammer it around track all day and it will not miss a beat. Then a simple drive to work in the summer and it wont play ball.

The 3dr is superb very rarley misses a beat, superb car.

my cossie came with a full service history but the filter had never been changed. It had a date on the side from june 1991. When i emptyed the filter out. It was like guinness driping out. Then the next fault on my car was the water temp sensor. I used to drive to and from work on a country road but as soon as i got into town traffic it used to start missfiring and start to smoke. Changed the sensor and it was ok. The last fault i had (touch wood)was it wouldnt start. It turned out to be the fuel pump fuse holder was corroded. Replaced it and its been fine since. Tell me your storys of your car.

I bought mine in the summer to use as a daily driver

I have had it on the road for 6 weeks so far

I did buy it very cheap as a fixer upper

replaced the turbo
rebuilt the head with new seals, tappets etc
all the boost hoses were split so replaced them
got it back on the road and used it every day for a week
then the timeing belt tensioner gave up, bent all 16 valves
so is off the road for another head rebuild

I got this one with the turbo knackered. One new turbo, leads, plugs, cap, arm, fuel filter oil and filter < all as you would with anything else anyway and its done about 15,000 hot/cold/snow trouble free miles. The only problems I have had is the -34 broke. Not knowing it was a 34 I got a -31 and fitted that. Not impessed with the spike, changed the spring :D It was all fixed again. This is the best part of two years,oh yeah GpA coil too and a bigger cooler lol.Oops I forgot about refurbing the front calipers and repacing the rears and discs all round but this is stuff you would do with any other car.
